Though lead paint poisoning of children in Baltimore is a " public health crisis", the Federal government, in my opinion, has failed through several administrations to properly address this important issue. Indeed, the current administration has invested no more in this problem than the previous administration did. Lead poisoning is not even on the Center for Disease Control's ( CDC's) priority list of " winnable public health battles." Instead, the default approach is to file private lawsuits against hapless Baltimore landlords --- many of whom are helpless victims of this process themselves.
