"You have, basically, a renegade police department up here, that's been operating under the protection of Congress" - Attorney Charles J. Ware, 10/29/2001.
[The New York Times, The Washington Post, Associated Press].
Mr. Ware's comment is certainly true, based on my limited experience. A call to "my" Congressman --- which became heated --- resulted in a threatening phone call from the Capitol Hill P.D.: "You keep your communications with your elected representatives in writing. Call again, and I'll be knockin' at yer door." I should emphasize that I never made any threats, but told the Congressman's staffer what a lousy excuse for a human being his boss was.
