MARYLAND ARRESTS --- DO's AND DONT's: U.S. SUPER LAWYER AND MARYLAND "BEST 10" ATTORNEY

www.CharlesJeromeWare.com.  "Here to make a difference."

Premier Maryland criminal defense attorney Charles Ware, among numerous other accomplishments and awards, is recognized and ranked by his many satisfied clients as well as his legal peers as one of Maryland's "BEST 10" DUI and DWI defense attorneys [AIDUIA].  For an initial courtesy consultation, call him at (410) 730-5016 or (410) 720-6129, or email defense attorney Charles Ware at charlesjeromeware@msn.com.

  1. Do not resist arrest.  You will be charged for it.
  2. Ask for a copy of the arrest warrant, or ask the arresting officer what you are being charged with.
  3. Identify yourself properly; otherwise you may be confined in jail without release.
  4. Do not make any other statements to the officers without speaking with, and getting the approval of, your attorney.  "Loose lips sink ships."
  5. Do not threaten the officers.  They have the weapons, mace, taser, and usually the law on their side; and they are fallible human beings.  Be very careful.
  6. Contact a relative, friend, bail bondman, or your lawyer to help you secure your bail and release.
  7. Obey all conditions of your bail or bond.  This includes making court and other required appearances, staying away from the alleged victim, if any, and refraining from contacting other co-defendants, if so ordered by the court, as legendary football great O.J. Simpson learned the hard way in Las Vegas in January 2008.  Simpson, you may recall, had his bail revoked and was jailed for several days by a Las Vegas judge because of his attempts to contact (from his home in Florida) a witness and co-defendant (in Las Vegas) in his criminal kidnapping and assault case.  Moral: Resist the temptation to self-destruct after you are charged with a crime.
